Must I belong to a synagogue in order to study with Bar Mitzvah Florida?

Synagogue affiliation/membership is NOT required to study with BMF. We work with students who are members of synagogues and those who are not. Our curriculum is customized to the student's and family's needs and desires for Jewish education.

Is Bar Mitzvah Florida a good option for me?

BMF is a great option for anyone who would like to make a committment to Judaism in an affordable way, in their own way, on their own time and in their own home.

Will my child become Bar/Bat Mitzvah in a synagogue?

We can have our ceremony in a synagogue or we can make a sacred space for our ceremony in the venue of your choice.

Who will perform the service/ceremony?

Marcia Weinstein is a Cantorial soloist and Jewish Educator who can perform a Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony with or without a Rabbi. If the student's family wishes a Rabbi to participate in the ceremony, there are several wonderful Rabbis who can be engaged to share in this mitzvah.

Are there any synagogue obligations that come with this program?

BMF does not require any synagogue obligations. However, if your family chooses to affiliate, it is not discouraged. We work with students who belong to a synagogue and those who don't.

How long is the program?

Depending on your child's background, from 8 months to one year is typical.

What does this include?

This includes weekly visits over the phone, via video chat or personally, depending where you live, on your schedule, and extra help when needed.

How much does it cost?

Unaffiliated Students: The cost of the full program varies depending on the students previous education and personalization we add into the program. Cost varies slightly with each student, and the costs are less than typical synagogue dues plus religious school costs.

Affiliated Students: For students who are enrolled in a formal religious school program, tutoring is priced at an hourly rate.
